Another Trip Around the Sun

Today I turn 49 years old. How did this happen? I don’t feel that old. I believe that’s because our soul is outside of the constraints of time. It is not finite like our earthly bodies. That’s become more comforting as I have probably lived longer now than what I have left on this mortal coil. I know that my soul will live on.

Sometimes, however, my flesh tells me that time is running out. Time is so ingrained in who we are and how we move from day to day. We can get stuck when we identify too heavily with it and the physical form, the past, and the future.

Perhaps the reason time seems to move faster when we get older is that we are too heavily in the body, thinking about the things we can’t change (past and future). The remedy is easy: live in the moment. Easier said that done sometimes, but this year I am going work on it.
